Dry January, Extended: Our Favorite N/A Drinks in Boise

January always comes in with that fresh-start energy. New routines. Clear intentions. A little reset after a busy holiday season. And for many here in Boise and across the Treasure Valley, that includes Dry January, a chance to pause, reflect, and see how life feels with less (or no) alcohol.

But here’s what I’ve been hearing more and more lately from friends, neighbors, and clients:  “I actually feel really good. I think I’m going to keep going.”

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone!

Extending Dry January into February isn’t about rules or restrictions. It’s about paying attention to what’s working. Better sleep. Clear mornings. More energy. Feeling more present in conversations. Waking up on a Saturday ready to enjoy everything Boise has to offer, instead of recovering from the night before.

And honestly? February is a great month to keep that momentum going. It’s still cozy season in Idaho. Still perfect for meeting friends for a drink, planning a date night downtown, or squeezing in a quick happy hour after work, but now with more intention behind what’s in your glass. The good news? Boise’s local drink scene has fully embraced the idea that going alcohol-free doesn’t mean sacrificing flavor or fun!

Boise & Treasure Valley Spots Making NA Feel Like a Treat

One thing we love about living and working in Boise is how creative and community-driven our local businesses are. These non-alcoholic options aren’t afterthoughts, they’re crafted, beautiful, and just as enjoyable as a traditional cocktail. Here are a few of my favorites:

The Modern Bar

If you haven’t checked out The Modern Bar yet, it’s a must. They take mocktails seriously, think beautiful presentation, complex flavors, and drinks that feel just as special as a traditional cocktail. Perfect for a date night or girls’ night where you still want that “treat yourself” vibe.

Tinner’s Alley

Cozy, stylish, and great for conversation. Ask about their NA options, they often have creative alternatives that don’t feel like an afterthought. This is a great spot when you want atmosphere without the pressure to drink.

Oldspeak

Oldspeak is a favorite for thoughtful food and drinks, and their NA offerings fit right in with their elevated, intentional vibe. If you’re focusing on wellness and still want something beautifully crafted, this is a great go-to.

Thick as Thieves

One of Boise’s coolest speakeasy-style spots, and yes, you can absolutely enjoy it alcohol-free. Their bartenders are fantastic at creating custom NA cocktails that still feel fun, moody, and sophisticated.

Bardenay

A Boise classic! Bardenay has a solid lineup for those skipping alcohol, and they’re always willing to get creative. It’s a great reminder that you don’t have to give up your favorite spots to make mindful choices.

Barbarian Brewing

Even breweries are getting in on the NA movement. While you’re there for the vibes and community, ask about non-alcoholic options, it’s becoming more common, and it’s great to see local spots adapting.

Free Spirits Beverage Co

This is a gem for anyone building an NA home bar. Free Spirits Bev Co offers alcohol-free spirits and mixers that let you create cocktails at home that actually taste like cocktails, not juice in a fancy glass. Perfect for hosting, date nights in, or just upgrading your weekday wind-down.

It’s Not About Giving Something Up — It’s About Gaining Something

What we love most about this shift is that it’s not all-or-nothing. It’s flexible. It’s personal. And it fits beautifully with a lifestyle many people in the Treasure Valley are leaning into, more balance, more intention, and more focus on feeling good in everyday life.

That’s a pretty good trade-off.

A February Invitation for Boise Locals

If you’re curious, here’s a simple way to try it this month:

  • Pick one new NA-friendly spot in Boise.

  • Order something you wouldn’t normally try.

  • Notice how you feel the next day!

You don’t have to label it. You don’t have to commit forever. Just stay curious.

At King + Co. Real Estate, we talk a lot about lifestyle, because a home is about more than walls and square footage. It’s about how you live in Boise. How you gather with friends. How you explore your neighborhood. How you take care of yourself. And we love seeing our local Boise and Treasure Valley community continue to grow in ways that support healthier, more intentional choices, without losing any of the fun.

However you’re sipping this February, I hope it’s something that makes you feel good, inside and out.

Cheers to a mindful, cozy, connected February in Boise. 💜
