Pumpkins, Corn Mazes + London Fogs: Fall in the Treasure Valley

We know. We say we love every season in Idaho. Summer gets the long evenings, patio dinners, lake days, and weekends that somehow turn into mini vacations. Winter gets the mountains. Spring gets that first glorious stretch of sunshine when everyone in Boise collectively decides it’s time to be outside again.

But fall? Fall might actually be our favorite.

There’s something about those first cool mornings when you walk outside and realize you need a sweater. The foothills start changing, the trees around town put on a show, and suddenly a completely normal Saturday feels like it should involve a scenic drive, a pumpkin patch, and something warm to drink.

And yes...this is also officially London Fog season. As if we needed an excuse.

First Stop: The Pumpkin Patch

There are certain things you just have to do at least once every fall, and wandering around a field looking for a pumpkin that is somehow better than all the other pumpkins is one of them.

Lowe Family Farmstead in Kuna is one of those Treasure Valley fall traditions that checks pretty much every box. There’s the pumpkin patch, Idaho’s Original Corn Maze, hayrides, farm activities, and plenty to keep you there much longer than you originally planned.

Go for the pumpkins. Stay because someone insists you have to do the corn maze. Take approximately 47 photos. Leave with more pumpkins than you intended to buy.

That’s fall.

Or...Get Lost in a Giant Straw Maze

If your ideal fall outing needs a little more adventure, head over to Shindig Farms in Nampa.

Along with its pumpkin patch, Shindig is known for its giant straw maze...and when October rolls around, things get considerably spookier after dark during haunted maze season.

You can keep things sweet and simple during the day or test your bravery at night.

Take the Long Way Home

One of our favorite things about fall in the Treasure Valley doesn't actually require a destination.

This is the season for taking the long way.

Grab a coffee, put on a good playlist, and drive through the foothills. Walk or bike along the Greenbelt. Wander through one of Boise's older neighborhoods when the trees are showing off. Head toward the mountains just because the view looked pretty that morning.

There’s a relatively short window between “Oh, look! The leaves are changing!” and “Wait...where did all the leaves go?”

Take advantage of it.

Sometimes those simple afternoons are the ones that remind us just how much we love living here.

And Obviously...Get a London Fog

At this point, you know us.

Pumpkin patch? London Fog on the way.

Saturday morning wandering around town? London Fog.

Leaf-peeping drive? London Fog.

It dropped below 70 degrees and there was a slight breeze?

London. Fog.

Our London Fog Diaries have taken us around the Treasure Valley in search of a really good Earl Grey + steamed milk situation...and fall feels like the perfect time to revisit a few favorites.

Bumble Coffee & Taps is an easy one to add to your fall wandering list. Grab a London Fog, explore Barber Station,, and maybe take it along for a walk afterward. Cozy drink + crisp Boise morning + a little neighborhood wandering? That's pretty much our ideal fall Saturday.

Maybe that's really what we love most about this season. Fall gives us an excuse to slow things down a little, get outside, and enjoy the place we get to call home.

This Is Why We Love Living Here

We spend a lot of time talking about houses. It comes with the territory. But the longer we work in real estate, the more we realize that loving where you live has just as much to do with what happens outside your front door.

It's your favorite coffee shop knowing your order. The pumpkin patch your family visits every October. The trail you walk when you need some fresh air. The restaurant you always suggest when friends come to town. The neighborhood where you can't help but slow down and look at the houses.

Eventually, all of those little places, routines, and traditions become part of what makes somewhere feel like home.

So here's to sweater weather, pumpkins on the porch, weekends outside, taking the long way home, way too many photos of changing leaves, and a London Fog or two (or twelve).
