If you dream of living within easy access to many of Boise’s best amenities, then you want to start your home hunt in Northwest Boise. Tucked in between downtown Boise, the foothills, and Eagle—Northwest Boise provides entertaining, dining, and outdoor adventures that you can not find anywhere else.
Northwest Boise Businesses
Strap on some skates and show off your moves at Treasure Valley Skate! Are you a novice skater? Not to worry, Treasure Valley Skate offers lessons for all ages. Take your turn around the rink with your friends and family, before hitting up the arcade or grabbing a bite to eat. This is pure family fun.
Tour a piece of history at the James Castle House. Though currently closed due to COVID, this historic home serves as a memorial to the local artist. Not only can you learn more about Castle’s work and life, but you can also view other exhibitions and events.
For those with a green thumb, Edwards Greenhouse is a must-see destination for everything gardening. This 10-acre nursery and florist has been a Boise institution since its beginnings in 1930.
Outdoor Options in Northwest Boise
If you would rather enjoy a different kind of green, then Pierce Park Greens might be the answer. Don’t worry about scheduling a tee time, this 3-par course is a walk-on facility so you can easily swing a club when you get the urge.
Polecat Gulch Reserve provides residents with more than seven miles of trails perfect for hiking and mountain biking. You might find beginner mountain bikers at Polecat’s easy grades that make for an easier ride. Keep an eye out for wildlife that also traverses the trails!
Restaurants in Northwest Boise
After you have worked up an appetite with all these fun activities, you can stop by Poppy Seed Bakery and Cafe. The family-owned business serves breakfast and lunch options that will have you salivating, from breakfast burritos and salads.
If you have a hankering for good American grub, then head to The Lift. Chow down on a local Double R Ranch burger while catching the game, or enjoy a leisurely brunch on the spacious dog-friendly patio. Or swing by The Local to enjoy live music, trivia and local art. Their charcuterie board is one of my favorites!
If you are feeling inspired to belt out a few tunes you can’t miss Boise’s karaoke staple, Terry’s State Street Saloon with singing seven nights a week starting at 9 pm. Check their website for updates on opening. End the night with a scone from Merritt’s Cafe, open until 1 am. This Northwest Boise eatery features homestyle cooking with homemade, cooked to order scones!
