Dry January has come to an end, but some people are keeping it going by enjoying mocktails throughout the year. In Boise, several bars and restaurants have taken the mocktail trend in stride, creating separate menus and unique drinks without the alcohol.
Here are some of our top picks!
Red Feather Lounge
This is the place to go for a nice dinner and a drink after a long week. Red Feather Lounge, located in the Fidelity Building on 8th Street, offers classic brunch and dinner options, along with a fairly robust cocktail and mocktail menu.
For brunch, there are two mocktails available featuring lemonade and a strawberry-cherry tomato simple syrup. The dinner menu has three options, with more tropical flavors like orange and pineapple juice, along with a housemade lavender syrup for the third one.
The mocktails are all priced at $10.
Water Bear Bar
Water Bear Bar, located on the corner of 9th and Jefferson, is a modern bar with approachable classics. They also have regional oysters available on the menu!
Their menu features low-ABV and non-alcoholic options for those who are wanting to slow down, are sober curious or are fully sober. The menu is constantly changing with the seasons, but some options right now include several with zero proof gin, N/A lagers and hoppy refreshers.
The cost ranges from $5 to $11.
Thick as Thieves
This is likely one of Boise’s best cocktail spots. Thick as Thieves offers a speakeasy vibe in downtown Boise.
They have three mocktails on their menu at the moment, one of them being a take on a root beer float. They also have snacks available, including a collaboration with Guru Donuts and a little cheese board.
Bar, Please!
This bar is on the newer side and offers a fun, laid-back vibe and is open seven days a week. The menu has an emphasis on high balls, spritzes and fresh seasonal cocktails, some of which can be made alcohol free.
Bar, Please! also has snacks on the menu, including a grilled kimchi cheese sandwich and chips and dip. The bar is located on W. Idaho Street near press and Pony and thick as Thieves!
The cost of the mocktails range from $9 to $12.
The Social on Eighth
The Social on Eighth boasts mocktails that are not an alcohol replacement but a one of a kind elevated drinking experience. Their mocktail menu, crafted by Erth Beverage Company, is a rotating menu, so each time you come in you can experience a different drink.
The current mocktails are all priced at $9 and feature flavors like pineapple, orange and florals. They also offer shareable foods, like a mini sourdough loaf and a popcorn and mixed nut flight.
