Eating a gluten free diet can be difficult at restaurants, and maybe even a little stressful at times. That said, a lot of restaurants in the Boise area have dedicated items on their menus that are gluten free and different equipment like fryers and toasters to avoid cross contamination with foods that contain gluten.
We did some research on restaurants that have excellent gluten free items on their menus and come highly recommended by those who are celiac or just eat gluten free.
Red Fort Cuisine of India
Red Fort Cuisine of India has a broad menu, most of which is naturally gluten free. The restaurant is a casual Indian eatery that offers traditional dishes, great cocktails and vegan and gluten free dishes.
Everything that has gluten is clearly marked with a G, so you should be safe to order most everything if you have a sensitivity to gluten. People who have eaten there said the server took the time to explain all the different dishes and ensure they were safe to eat for those that have gluten allergies.
Red Fort is located at 1510 S. Celebration Ave. in Meridian.
Saltbrush
Saltbrush is a little more pricey, but well worth it for the cozy vibes and world-class American food with wine and cocktails. The menu is seasonal and features fresh ingredients from Snake River Farms, Purple Sage Farms and more.
While it doesn’t have specific gluten free marks, guests to the restaurant have said their server double checked with the chef and those who brought out the food to ensure it was gluten free. They also have gluten free (and house made!) bread items available.
In a social media post, Saltbrush also said they are happy to accommodate those who are gluten free, dairy free, vegan or have other allergies and that they take it very seriously. You can find Saltbrush at 506 W Grove St. in Boise.
Wepa
For some amazing and authentic Puerto Rican food, you have to check out Wepa Cafe in Garden City. Everything on the menu is naturally gluten free or can be made gluten free on request. They also have an amazing rooftop patio, which you should definitely consider taking advantage of with the incoming warmer weather.
You can find Wepa at 175 E 35th St. in Garden City. If you don’t feel like going out, you can also order it for delivery!
Le Peep
For the breakfast lovers, Le Peep is for you! They have a separate menu with just gluten free items, and it sounds amazing.
With things like breakfast skillets, enchiladas and stuffed french toast, you just can’t go wrong. They do encourage you to double check to make sure everything served is gluten free, but reviewers have said they have not had any issues there.
Le Peep is located in Meridian at 3036 N Eagle Rd.
Flourish Boise
This isn’t a restaurant necessarily, but even gluten free people want baked goods! Flourish Bakery offers sweet treats like macarons, cakes and cheesecakes, but they also have a full service coffee bar with coffee from Flying M.
All of their cheesecakes are naturally gluten free, but they also have gluten free scones and cakes. Their in-person menu is marked with items that are available to be gluten free.
Flourish Bakery has a storefront at 3203 W Chinden Blvd. in Garden City.
